Authorities release numbers from October seat belt enforcement


OLMSTED CO., Minn. – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Rochester Police Department, participated in a TZD (Toward Zero Deaths) seat belt enforcement from Oct. 14-30 and made over 350 stops.

During this enforcement campaign, authorities made 352 traffic stops for various violations. In those stops, officers and deputies issued 168 citations for seat belt use, three related to child safety, 28 to unlicensed drivers and 37 for other traffic offenses.

Six people were also arrested for criminal charges during this time.
