Gunshots reported in Austin

AUSTIN, Minn. – Police are investigating a Sunday report of shots being fired.

It apparently happened in the parking lot of Mandolin Place Apartments on 31st Street SW in Austin.  Officers were called to the scene around 9:22 pm and found four bullet holes in an unoccupied car, one bullet hole in the side of a building and 11 shell casings in the parking area.

An examination found the bullets came from two different 9 mm handguns.

Residents of the apartment complex told police two vehicles fled the scene after the shots.  They were last seen traveling south on 31st Street.

No injuries were reported in this incident.

Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger says anyone with information about the gunshots or who was responsible for them is asked to call 507-437-9400.
