MASON CITY, Iowa – A Cerro Gordo County man is in jail after an arrest for public drunkenness turns into a drug charge.
20-year-old Ross James Miller of Mason City was accused of public intoxication on July 5 after a Mason City police officer reported seeing Miller in a public place, unsteady on his feet and with the smell of alcohol on his breath. Miller also allegedly admitted drinking alcohol.
Several squares of blotter paper were found in Miller’s possession and on October 7, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance after the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Laboratory found the paper tested positive for LSD.
A warrant was issued for Miller’s arrest and he was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail on Sunday night. He is being held on $5,000 bond.
