Operation Christmas Child


MASON CITY, Iowa – It may not feel like it, but Christmas is right around the corner and millions of boys and girls will soon receive a gift thanks to generous donors and local churches.

Every year, Operation Christmas Child collects shoe boxes filled with gifts for children in need.

This year, First Covenant Church in Mason City is once again the collection site in the area.

Donors fill the shoeboxes with toys, writing materials and hygiene items.

“This program is so important because there’s children all around the world who may never have a gift in their lifetime. This gift not only brings them Jesus Christ to their life, but it gives them something tangible that they can hold,” says Myrna Long, Volunteer.

If you would like to donate items or purchase a shoebox you may visit First Covenant Church at 411 S Ohio Avenue in Mason City during these times:

Mon., November 14: 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

Tue., November 15: 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

Wed., November 16: 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

Thur., November 17: 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

Fri., November 18: 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

Sat., November 19: 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Sun., November 20: 1:30 p.m. -5 pm.

Mon., November 21: 7 a.m.-9 a.m.
