MASON CITY, Iowa – A local group “Get Power,” which started in the Mason City School District in 2012, is looking to expand and help a larger majority of people.
Those with the group say the initiative is to help put an end to bullying as well as the LGBTQ, religious and racial divides.
Now they are looking to earn $30,000 for a new facility.
“There is a need in the community,” says Lakotah Oelkers, the executive director of Get Power. “We need to look to get past the divides and people who are being bullied. We need the youth to get involved and inspired in our community.”
