MASON CITY, Iowa – A Clear Lake man is going to prison for stealing from parked cars.
29-year-old Jamie Evenson has entered guilty pleas to three counts of 3rd degree burglary of a motor vehicle. Two counts of the same charge and one count of 2nd degree criminal mischief have been dismissed.
Evenson was arrested on September 21 and authorities say he broke into five parked cars on four different streets in Mason City.
Evenson has been sentenced to five years in prison on each burglary charge, but two will be served concurrently and one consecutively. That means he will spend 10 years behind bars.
Evenson is also pleading guilty to possession of marijuana and was given two days in jail for that.
