NORTHWOOD, Iowa – A Nebraska teen has been arrested in Worth County after a high speed chase ends in a crash.
The incident happened Monday on Interstate 35 at around 12:43 pm. An officer with the Iowa Department of Transportation noticed a silver car going 99 miles an hour. The officer turned on his squad car lights but the silver car did not stop. Instead, it took the 208 exit ramp, ran through the stop sign and into the south side ditch of 410th Street.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 18-year-old Trevell Deshaun Moore of Omaha, NE. He was not injured by the crash and was placed under arrest.
Moore allegedly told the DOT officer that he was on the run from people trying to kill him and had purchased the silver car from someone on Craigslist. A check found the silver car had been reported stolen. A bag of a leafy green substance resembling marijuana was also allegedly discovered in the car. Moore had no identification on him and allegedly stated that he did not know the car was stolen.
He has been charged with 2nd degree theft, eluding, possession of marijuana – 1st offense and possession of drug paraphernalia. Moore is accused of numerous traffic violations as well, including speeding, failure to obey a stop sign, failure to maintain control, failure to yield to emergency vehicles and no valid driver’s license.
