ROCHESTER, Minn. – Young musicians in Rochester have the unique opportunity to learn and perform with a world-renowned violinist.
Midori Goto is in Rochester for an educational and performance residency. She is recognized as one of the most gifted performers. Over the past ten years, she’s been devoted to music education by working with youth orchestras across the country.
Midori’s Orchestra Residencies Program aims to strengthen the ties of American youth orchestra to the local adult orchestra. Each year, only two youth orchestras are selected for the residency. For the next several days, she will work with students in the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestra.
“During that time I rehearse and perform with the youth orchestra,” she explains. “I work with them on many different things; master class, it could be a coaching of a chamber group that they have within the youth orchestra.”
Over the weekend, Midori will be performing with both the youth orchestra and the Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale. The details on the concerts can be found below.
Rochester Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, November 19, at 7:30 pm at John Marshall High School
