MASON CITY, Iowa- For the second time this year, a sign at First Congregational Church in Mason City has been vandalized.
The sign that reads “We are a sanctuary for the least, lost, gay and straight, female, Muslim… for all! God’s love wins,” had the word “gay” spray painted over.
“It’s a visual image of some of the negativity that’s happening, but it also gives people the chance to continue the conversation,” says Chuck Kelsey, the Pastor of the church. “You don’t have to be this way, we don’t have to exclude people, we don’t have to angry.”
The sign was vandalized back in March of this year when the Minneapolis Gay Man’s Choir came to town.
