AUSTIN, Minn. – It’s an effort to boost tourism in a local community.
You’ll now see new welcome signs all around Austin. They direct visitors to some popular destinations, like the Spam Museum.
It’s all part of Vision 2020’s Gateway to Austin Committee’s goal of helping people get to their destination as quickly and easily as possible.
“That’s really the biggest difference I think it’s going to make because the faster people get to where they need to go, that gives them more time to explore other places around town, to shop and to eat. And that’s what we’re really looking forward to seeing in Austin,” said Vision 2020 Director Greg Siems.
Most of the signs are located on the main corridors coming into Austin. They were funded by a grant from the Hormel Foundation.
