OLMSTED CO., Minn. – Authorities are investigating two separate burglaries that were reported over the weekend.
One happened in Rochester around 12:45 a.m. Sunday in the 3500 block of 49th St. SW. A man in his 80s was in his bedroom sleeping with his wife when he woke up to see a man going through one of his dressers.
The suspect, who reportedly wore dark clothing, took off after the man said something. He told Rochester police there were some items piled in the hallway that made it look like the suspect was stowing them there to take later.
Officers couldn’t find the suspect and no arrests have been made.
Another burglary was reported to have happened sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and 6:15 a.m. Monday in Farmington Township on County Road 21 NE.
An elderly couple in their 80s were burglarized overnight. Olmsted County sheriff’s deputies say the suspect appears to have gained entry by cutting a window screen, then took $9,000 worth of jewelry. No arrests have been made.
