MASON CITY, Iowa- Emergencies can happen anywhere, it’s important to be ready at all times.
Elderbridge Agency of Aging in Mason City is giving away File of Life cards, intended for senior citizens. People fill out the medical information on the card that goes in places such as wallet and on the refrigerator.
“It can take an EMT [emergency medical technician] up to an hour or longer to get the same information,” said Elderbridge specialist Kim Doughty. “You can see how it could dramatically affect what you’re doing. When they pull this off the refrigerator, they have this [information] right in front of them. They know what you’re allergic to, they know what not to give to you.”
Doughty said senior citizens interested in the File of Life cards can pick them up at the Elderbridge LifeLong Links office at the Mohawk Square in Mason City.
