MASON CITY, Iowa – A Cerro Gordo County man is being held on $25,000 bond on drug charges.
55-year-old Mark Monroe Hoffman of Mason City is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and violating the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. He was arrested around 10:30 pm Monday at 15186 300th Street on the north edge of Mason City. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says Hoffman had four baggies in his possession that contained “well over” five grams of meth, along with a small baggie of marijuana and a digital scale. There was also allegedly marijuana lying loose on a table when Hoffman was taken into custody.
Authorities also say that Hoffman did not present himself to authorities in August as required under the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. He pleaded guilty to 3rd degree sex abuse in 1995 and received a 10 year prison sentence for that.
Hoffman is also accused of violating the five year probation he received in February, 2015, after pleading guilty to a controlled substance crime and violating the Sex Offender Registry.
Hoffman was originally booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $100,000 bond.
