MASON CITY, Iowa- The Community Kitchen of North Iowa held their annual Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday.
“It’s fun for me to do this kind of stuff,” said Jenny Stegen of Mason City.
Stegen said one thing she is thankful for this year is the Community Kitchen of North Iowa’s Thanksgiving meal. “My favorite part of coming here is visiting with everybody and having food good.”
Assistant Director Sandy Funk said the holiday meal is to bring people together. She said it’s important everyone celebrates Thanksgiving, including the homeless or people without families nearby.
“One of the big things here besides getting a good nutritious meal is the socialization aspect, said Funk. “We’ve had people in here since 8 o’clock this morning, socializing, and they eat. And as you can see some of them are still here, and that’s a big part of our operation.”
Funk said there was around 200 people that stopped by the event.
