How to save on your holiday energy bill

KIMT News 3- According to those at Alliant Energy, folks spend about $1.69 of their energy bill preparing a holiday meal, but there are areas folks can still cut costs.

Justin Foss, a spokesperson for Alliant Energy, says to turn the furnace down when guests start to arrive. He says folks can use the heat from their oven as well as from guests to allow your home to reach a comfortable temperature.

He says folks can also put multiple foods in the oven at the same time as long as you keep an eye to make sure you don’t burn your favorite side dish.

Another tip is to clean your oven out while it is still warm rather than waiting to reheat your oven later on in the evening.
