FOREST CITY, Iowa – A North Iowa man accused of living a lie is pleading not guilty.

56-year-old Wendell Keith Hunter of Forest City entered not guilty pleas Tuesday to charges of identity theft, possession of a firearm as a felon, fraudulent use of a birth certificate and two counts of false application for a license or ID card.

Hunter was arrested on October 20 and accused of stealing the identity of a Florida man named Daniel H. Hughes.  He allegedly passed himself off as Hughes to get a job at 3M Corporation in Forest City in 2014.  Hughes says Hunter stole his identity over 15 years ago and has been using it ever since.

Hunter is scheduled to stand trial on January 11, 2017, in Winnebago County District Court.
