CHARLES CITY, Iowa – In 2010, the state of Iowa approved a Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund for water quality and other natural resources in local communities.
But after six years, the fund is still empty.
Charles City Mayor Jim Erb says he would like state officials to proceed to help with the water quality concerns in the area.
“Which involves everything from flood mitigation to habitat maintenance and soil erosion measures in terms of containing that.”
An increase of 3/8 of 1 cent in the sales tax has been proposed to help with funding.
