CHARLES CITY, Iowa – Students at Charles City High School got their hands dirty Wednesday to help out the community and get class credit. Students in the building trades class are using lessons they’ve learned to build a garage for an older lady in the community.
One student says he thinks the skills his class learned will be helpful for future home-improvement projects.
“These are skills that you can use every day,” senior Bryce Hamm said. “Once I get a house and stuff I’m probably going to want to make a garage or make a deck, so it’s just nice knowing the skills, they’re just basic skills, everyday skills that you’ll probably use.”
The class is also building a deck for one of their teachers and another garage.
