MASON CITY, Iowa – Driving to work can be a task sometimes, especially with winter weather ahead of us.

If you wish you could share your driving duties with someone else, there’s a new program just for you called Iowa Rideshare.

It was created by the Iowa Department of Transportation to help drivers find others to carpool with.

“It saves on gas, saves on vehicle maintenance, it saves on parking and just gives you somebody maybe to meet new people. Get a chance to talk to people to and from work,” said Pete Hjelmstad with the Iowa DOT.

The DOT stresses the website is safe to use and you don’t have to include any information you don’t want to share.
