Rochester man killed in sideswipe crash near Oronoco

UPDATE: A 65-year-old Rochester man has died after a sideswipe crash on Thursday evening near Oronoco.

Mican Thach was in a parked 1996 Honda Passport on the left shoulder of northbound Highway 52 with a trailer. Todd Fierro, 52, of St. Paul, was headed north on the highway in a 2013 Ford Escape. The Ford struck the trailer and Thach, who was next to the trailer at the time, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

Assisting on scene were Gold Cross Ambulance, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Oronoco First Responders and the Oronoco Fire Department.

ORONOCO, Minn. – At least one person is killed in a multiple vehicle accident on Highway 52 near Oronoco. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, it happened at 7:52 p.m.Thursday and involved four vehicles and five people including a pedestrian.

The Minnesota State Patrol is not releasing any other information at this time and continue to investigate.
