ROCHESTER, Minn. – A possible impersonation of a police officer this week in southern Minnesota is shining a spotlight on the issue.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says a teenage girl was pulled over earlier this week by a dark vehicle with red and blue flashing lights on top. Authorities say the victim was not told why they were pulled over and was not hurt. However, this brings to light what you can do to ensure the person pulling you over is a member of law enforcement.
Captain Scott Behrns of the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office tells us you can ask why you were pulled over and their identification when they stop you. If you still feel uneasy, he suggests calling 911 and they can verify the officer.
