CHARLES CITY, Iowa- You’ve probably seen several pictures of folks posting their “No Shave November” pictures as a way to raise awareness for cancer. For the 4th year in a row, the many deputies of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office sported beards of differing lengths to raise money for the Floyd County Cancer Fund.
The deputies raised over $8,500, beating their goal for the month by $2,000. Those with the Floyd County Cancer Fund say that money goes to families who have been impacted by the disease. Each one receiving $500.
Jan Osier says they were running low on their money and this donation will go a long way.
“It goes to helping with things like gas money, getting family member together, things like that,” says Osier, the treasurer of Cancer Fund. “It’s incidentals like food, lodging, anything like that that has to do with the cancer treatments.”
Sheriff-Elect Jeff Crooks says there is still more money coming in.
