Council meets tomorrow to vote on term limits

MASON CITY, Iowa- The Mason City City Council will meet Tuesday to vote for the final time on setting term limits on mayoral appointed board members such as those on the ‘Planning and Zoning and Commissions’, ‘Zoning Board of Adjustment’, and ‘Historic Preservations’.

Mayor Eric Bookmeyer proposed that members serve no more than 5 consecutive terms on a board.

“The need to change the board is often done in the business world and there’s a limit on how many terms they can serve in a particular board and so that was brought forward and discussed in the work session in the council as something worth pursuing,” says Mason City City Administrator Brent Trout.

The Council will meet Tuesday at 7 PM in the Mason City Room of the Mason City Library.
