DES MOINES, Iowa – A North Iowa motorist is involved in a collision that injured an Iowa State Patrol trooper.
The State Patrol says it happened around 9:22 am Sunday on southbound Interstate 380 in Buchanan County. The trooper was in his vehicle on the inside shoulder, assisting another driver that had gone into the median. 22-year-old Brittany Anderson of Charles City was driving south and apparently going too fast for the winter conditions. Her car went out of control.
Anderson struck the rear of the State Patrol vehicle, an SUV, which entered the median and crossed both lanes of traffic before coming to rest in the ditch. The 45-year-old state trooper was hurt and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment. He was wearing his seatbelt.
This crash remains under investigation. The name of the trooper has not been released.
