Arena receives grant money

ALBERT LEA, Minn. – The Albert Lea City Arena is is receiving $71,000 from the James Metzen Mighty Ducks Grant. With the money, they are looking to improve their indoor air quality.

The funds will go toward installing a new air conditioning system. The city of Albert Lea is matching the grant and without the money from the grant or the city, this project couldn’t get done.

“The city is always upgrading this building and just making it better,” said Bob Furland, interim director for Parks and Recreation. “It’s a real regional facility and people from all over the Midwest come here. We just want to keep it nice and the city has been so supportive.”

They are planning on having everything done by June.
