MASON CITY, Iowa – “Sammi would love this. Sammi was a beautiful girl that we will miss. She was a wonderful person,” friends said as balloons were released outside of the home where police say 19-year-old Samantha Teeter was shot.
They gathered to remember Teeter Tuesday night, lighting candles and holding balloons. Police say Teeter was killed by 60-year-old Larry Whaley, of Mason City. She died on Sunday.
“To be here for Sammi for what happened. What really happened was wrong and it shouldn’t have happened,” her uncle Steve Whitney said.
Whaley has been charged with first-degree murder. His bond is set at $500,000.
