AUSTIN, Minn.- A new campaign is starting in hopes of growing a better relationship with the Austin Police Department and the teens who live in the city. It’s called, ‘Catchin’ the Good.’
The Austin Police Department and Hormel Foods are working together to catch kids doing good deeds.
If an officer sees someone lending a helping hand they will receive one coupon that Hormel has provided. They can turn the coupon in for Hormel products like Skippy Peanut Butter Bites or Hormel Pepperoni products.
This wasn’t the officer’s idea. In fact, an engineer at Hormel came up with it.
“He wanted to know if there was something they could do to help our officers get a better relationship with the teen population and kids in Austin,” said Chief Brian Krueger, Austin Police Department. “We had several officers who stepped forward and thought it would be a great idea.”
Hormel will provide around 100 coupons to the department every quarter.
