FREEBORN CO., Minn. – Investigation is ongoing after a house fire on Wednesday evening left one person dead.
Fire officials and Freeborn County deputies responded to 68480 140 St. in rural Emmons around 5:30 p.m. for a structure fire with a possible victim inside the home. When they arrived, responders saw thick smoke coming from all parts of the house and large flames shooting out the back.
Crews extinguished the fire from inside out and found one person who died inside the home. The body was taken into custody by the medical examiner to be transported for an autopsy. The name of the victim hasn’t been released yet but authorties say he is a 56 year old man.
The state fire marshal also responded to the scene to investigate the fire. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Other assisting agencies include the Conger, Emmons, Twin Lakes, Alden and Hollandale Fire Departments, Gold Cross Ambulance and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
