CHATFIELD, Minn. – A $150,000 Chatfield home is a total loss after a fire broke out Thursday afternoon, authorities say.
Fire officials say no one was home at 627 River St. SW at the time and a neighbor called it in. The home was fully engulfed by the time crews arrived and they spent two hours fighting fire in the attic and basement, where there was a significant amount of wood.
The call reportedly came in around 1:30 p.m. and crews were out by 6 p.m. The state fire marshal was called and the cause is still under investigation. Officials don’t suspect any suspicious activity.
