1 in custody after Rochester standoff

ROCHESTER, Minn. – A man is in custody after a Monday morning standoff in the 500 block of Fourth Avenue SE.

Rochester police say a man claiming he was a relative of Jamar Clark had weapons and told officers to “bring it.” He reportedly emerged from a home with a knife before going back inside.

Riverside Central Elementary School was put on lockdown during the standoff as a precaution.

Dispatch was able to get the man to come out peacefully and he was transported to the hospital for evaluation before being taken into custody.
