Mason City man gets 10 years for business burglaries

MASON CITY, Iowa – A man accused of a string of burglaries is pleading guilty.

52-year-old Johnny Lee Baugh of Mason City was charged with burglarizing five businesses in Clear Lake, Mason City and Ventura.  Authorities say he broke into District 619 on July 27 and burglarized Country Landscapes, Dairy Queen and Mexican Authentic Foods on August 12, then broke into Tailgater’s on September 2.

On Monday, Baugh was sentenced to five years in prison for each crime.  Four of the terms will be served concurrently and one consecutively, meaning he faces a maximum of 10 years behind bars.

A count of ongoing criminal conduct was dismissed.
