NEW HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Minn. – A Mazeppa man faces several charges after allegedly attempting to steal two snowmobiles overnight Friday.
It happened around 2:42 a.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of New Haven Road NW. Investigators say 36-year-old Aaron Anderson was on a stolen four-wheeler out of the city of Eyota he allegedly took in October when he saw two snowmobiles on a trailer.
He reportedly hooked the trailer to the stolen four-wheeler and took off. A woman followed him down Douglas Trail and when she attempted to get in front of him, he swerved and hit her and they both went into the ditch. Neither suffered serious injuries.
Anderson was taken to the hospital for his injuries but was released. On him, Olmsted County sheriff’s deputies found two stun guns, one that looked like a cellphone, over 35 grams of meth and nearly $1,000 in cash.
Authorities say he has a significant history of theft and fleeing.
Anderson faces charges of possession of stolen property, motor vehicle theft and second-degree controlled substance possession.
