CERRO GORDO CO., Iowa – A North Iowa man faces several charges after a single-vehicle crash on Monday night.
It happened in the 1000 block of 255th St. around 11:14 p.m. Robert Anderson, of Lake Mills, was driving a 2006 Ford Taurus east on 255th St. when it veered off the road into the north ditch. The car came to a stop after hitting a mailbox, address marker and electrical pole. Anderson fled on foot and was later found near the crash scene.
He didn’t sustain any injuries, but the car is a total loss, according to a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office news release. Property damage is estimated at $6,000.
Anderson was arrested for driving with a suspended license, failure to file SR-22, failure to maintain control, striking fixtures upon a highway, failure to wear a safety belt and possession of drug paraphernalia.
