Pedestrian killed in northeast Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa – One person is dead after being struck by a car in northeast Iowa.

The State Patrol 36-year-old Abraham Cordero-Alvarado of Postville was driving west on Highway 18 in Clayton County when he struck a pedestrian crossing the road at the intersection with Falcon Avenue on the southern edge of Monona.

The name of the pedestrian killed is being withheld pending notification of family.

This fatal collision happened around 5:24 pm on Tuesday.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Monona Police, Marmac Police, Monona Fire and MFL Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
