Riverland and China professors work together

AUSTIN, Minn.- Students and staff at Riverland Community College gathered Wednesday afternoon to say good-bye to two professors that are from China.

Cuiping Zhou and Wei Zhang are both business professors and they were here for about a month. They have been working with folks from Riverland to develop an international partnership between Riverland and WUXI Vocational Institute of Commerce.

Within the next couple of years, the college is hoping to have students who have gone to a university in China for two years study at Riverland.

“With Minnesota and China working on increasing business partnership and having students train at a community college in Minnesota would be a great opportunity,” said Kelly McCalla, Riverland Community College. “Then these students would go back to China and share that knowledge. It will be huge from an economic growth stand point.”

He’s hoping that they can take what they learned from both of the professors and use it in their curriculum.
