ROCHESTER, Minn. – If you are planning to visit downtown Rochester over the weekend, know that you will not be able to park your vehicle there overnight. “No Parking” notices are posted on 20 streets in the downtown area business district. Scheduled snow plowing will take place between Midnight and 8:00 a.m. for the next three nights (Dec. 16th-18th).
As far as the rest of the city, Public Works tells us that the entire force, which is about 28 plows, will work throughout rush-hour on Friday and resume Saturday morning at 4:00 a.m. They are asking people to park off street if at all possible, and if not to follow the 12-hour parking rule.
“That you move your car at least once every 12 hours and move it to a place where this is no snow, that’s already been cleared,” explains Megan Moeller with Public Works. “We don’t know how long it will be before the plows can come back and make another pass down those streets so if there’s a lot of parked cars, there’s going to be a lot of snow left over and we don’t know when we’re going to get to it.”
Besides the downtown parking restrictions, Moeller says people should pay attention and obey posted parking signs throughout the city.

All vehicles in violation will be ticketed and towed. Anyone reporting a missing vehicle should notify the Law Enforcement Center. Please contact the Public Works Street Maintenance Division at 507-328-2450 if you have any plowing questions.
