SHEFFIELD, Iowa- The West Fork Wellness Center held an open house Sunday to show the community around the building.
The wellness center opened to the public on Dec. 12.
West Fork Community School District superintendent Darrin Strike said the building has a basketball court, a track, weight room, cardio room and wrestling room on the second floor for students to use.
“What I’m most excited about is that our students have an opportunity to have a facility for exercise,” said Strike. “A positive place for kids to be.”
In case physical therapy is needed, there’s an office there that offers a variety of services and opportunities.
“The company that is providing the physical therapy services in our district will allow students to job shadow and provide educational opportunities for kids sports medicine and the proper exercise,” said Strike.
Strike said the support from the community played a big part making the wellness center possible. He said Sukup Manufacturing donated roughly a quarter million dollars.
