MASON CITY, Iowa – An unusual sort of counterfeit currency has shown up in North Iowa.

The Mason City Police Department says Chinese Bank Training Notes have been found a couple of times in December.  One bill was passed to an area business and another was in a bank deposit.  These bills are reportedly used in China to teach bank tellers how to handle foreign currency.

Mason City police say this is fake money and anyone who encounters it is asked to contact the department.
