UPDATE: Rural Austin house fire under investigation


UPDATE: A house fire in rural Freeborn County is still under investigation on Wednesday.

Freeborn County Sheriff’s deputies, along with the London Fire Department, were dispatched to 89504 170 St. in Austin around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. It was reported that flames were coming from the home and everyone got out.

Joshua Declue, 40, and his roommate were in the home when the blaze started, but both safely exited and no injuries were reported.

The fire appears to have started near the wood burning stove and chimney, according to a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office news release, but the cause is still being investigated.

Glenville and Hayward Fire Departments also responded for mutual aid.

GLENVILLE, Minn. – Crews are dealing with a house fire in rural Freeborn County.

The Glenville and Hayward fire departments responded Tuesday afternoon to reports of flames at 89540 170th Street.  The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and Gold Cross Ambulance are also on scene.

No other details are available.
