AUSTIN, Minn. – Police say a domestic disturbance Wednesday led to a man’s death.
The Austin Police Department and the Mower County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call around 3:30 pm in the 1000 block of 8th Avenue SW. While dealing with the situation, an officer fired his weapon and one adult male was injured. The man was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin and then flown by helicopter to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he died.
The officer who fired his weapon was also taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin for injuries suffered during the incident. He was treated and released. He is now on paid administrative leave.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating this case. The identity of the deceased man has not been released, pending notification of his family and a preliminary autopsy.

A detective says this is an officer-involved shooting, but there is no official comment on what happened at the location. Officials say more information is expected to be released Thursday.
