A.J. Ellingson joined the KIMT Sports Staff in August of 2008 as a Sports Reporter and Weekend Anchor. A.J. has lived in Iowa his entire life and feels like this is a great opportunity to get his start in sports broadcasting. A.J. loves the emotion that sports offer and hopes to bring that energy to KIMT.
A.J. graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2008. He double majored in journalism and mass communication and health and sports studies. While at Iowa, he was a part of Daily Iowan TV as a sports reporter and an anchor for both news and sports. While at Iowa, A.J. also interned at the Big Ten Network during their launch year. His first experience in television came at WHO-TV in Des Moines as a sports intern. A.J. graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines.
His favorite sports team are the Iowa Hawkeyes, St. Louis Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Timberwolves. A.J.’s favorite sports memories include Iowa’s 2005 Capital One Bowl win over LSU and the Cardinals 2006 World Series Championship.
During his time away from KIMT, A.J. loves watching sports and hopes to experience the sports that North Iowa and Southern Minnesota has to offer. A.J. also spends time at the gym, mostly trying to convince himself that he can still drain the three. If you see A.J. out covering sports, make sure to stop and say hi.
