Annie Szatkowski joined the KIMT news team in July of 2012. She hails from the West coast and grew up in Reno, NV, but moved halfway across the country to attend the University of Iowa on a full gymnastics scholarship. Even though it was a big move away from her family, Annie wanted to pursue her dreams and soon fell in love with the university, its great journalism school, and the crazy Hawkeye spirit.
During her 4 years at Iowa, Annie embraced the life of a student-athlete and earned several Academic All-American and All-Big Ten awards, as well as two Distinguished Scholar awards. She double majored in Journalism and Mass Communication and Sports Studies. Even with her busy athletic schedule, she served as a sports reporter for Daily Iowan TV for 2 years and also interned for KGAN in Cedar Rapids in the summer of 2011.
Ever since she was little, Annie enjoyed performing, being on camera, and loved watching TV and movies. She knew that she wanted to pursue a career in television journalism, even before she entered high school and never looked back. She is thrilled to be getting her start in the broadcasting world and is so excited to be a part of the KIMT News 3 team.
Annie has always been an avid sports fan and can be found cheering on her Hawkeyes in any sport or watching the Green Bay Packers on Sundays. She enjoys traveling, cooking, shopping, working out, attending sporting events, meeting new people, and spending time with friends and family.
