Jaime Copley – News Director

Jaime Copley - News Director

Jaime Copley joined the KIMT News 3 news team in 1999. She was born and raised in the area, growing up in Clear Lake. Jaime attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Electronic Media Communication with a minor in Journalism. Upon graduation, she was recognized with the distinguished Old Purple and Gold Award for her achievements in journalism.

Jaime took on her current role of News Director shortly after the birth of her daughter Gabrielle Faith. Before that time, Jaime reported, worked as the Weekend Anchor and eventually moved into the Evening Anchor seat. She was the 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. Anchor/Executive Producer at the time of her promotion in 2011.

Some of Jaime’s favorites at the station include: playing soldier for a couple of days at Fort Bliss with local troops, spinning the wheel at “Wheel of Fortune”, meeting and interviewing Pat and Vanna, picking the brain of Jeopardy’s Alex Trebek and a very special story on 90-years of living with her grandfather as we welcomed in the year 2000. She’s traveled on an Honor Flight with World War Two veterans to Washington, DC and even chased a tornado. Jaime has won numerous awards during her time at KIMT, including the Stanley Award honoring the body of work which best demonstrates Iowa’s global connections in the form of a news documentary.

Jaime was a fellow with the Kneeland Project’s New Media Leadership Forum in the spring of 2012. The three day seminar was by invitation only to 18 news directors representing market sizes from around the country. The same year, she was appointed to the Iowa Broadcast News Association’s Board of Directors.

In her free time, Jaime loves spending time with her family. She enjoys teaching at “Dancing His Praises” dance studio in Clear Lake, delving into a great book, taking pictures and getting involved in various community projects. She feels blessed to have a job she loves in the area where she grew up.
