Josh Schwartzkopf was born in North Platte, Nebraska. His mother still lives in North Platte while his father resides in Eastern Montana. He graduated in 1994 from North Platte High School. Josh went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Theater with a Journalism Minor from Chadron State College in Chadron, NE.
On the career front, Josh spent a year touring with the Missoula Children’s Theater based out of Missoula, MT. He lived in California for a couple years after that where he worked as a Technical Director for Azusa Pacific University’s Theater Department. After a short stint in New York with another children’s theater group, Josh returned home to good old North Platte.
Upon his return, he had the opportunity to join the KNOP-TV News Team. He worked as a Reporter and Anchor for a couple years. It was there that he met his best friend, Kay, and future wife. The two moved on from North Platte to pursue career opportunities in Medford, OR. Josh wore a variety of hats while working for KOBI-TV. He was the Bureau Chief for the Grants Pass, OR Office. He also worked as the AM Show Co-Anchor and Producer. Josh filled in as a weekend Sports Anchor for a few months and eventually dabbled as a weekend Weather Forecaster until the couple moved to Mason City, IA.
He now joins us at KIMT-TV as the new Assignment Editor and says he is very excited to jump in and get his feet wet.
While away from the Newsroom, Josh enjoys reading and he is currently writing a novel and several short stories.
